Statement of Philosophy
Meet New Activities Director, Kyle Dunfee
I am very excited to begin this next journey as the Activities Director of the Miles City Unified School District! I am a born and raised Montanan, that calls Kalispell home. I am a 2006 graduate of Flathead High School in Kalispell, a 2011 graduate of the University of Montana, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in health and human performance, and a 2019 graduate of Montana State University, earning my masters degree in educational leadership.
I began my career in 2011, in Burley, ID, working for the Cassia County School District as a junior high level physical education teacher and athletic conditioning coach, and coaching junior high level football, boys and girls basketball, and track. I spent three years in this position, and in 2014 was hired to teach elementary physical education, in Kalispell. Over the five years I would spend teaching in Kalispell, I coached sophomore girls basketball at Glacier High School for one season, and JV and freshman girls basketball at Flathead High School - each for one season. In 2016, I was hired as the Head Boys and Girls Golf Coach at Flathead High School, where I would spend three seasons leading the Braves and Bravettes.
My philosophy with respect to activities and the roll they play in the educational experience of the student is that they are an extension of the classroom, and while it is a goal of mine to oversee successful programs at CCDHS, the life lessons that our student-athletes will gain while participating in our activity programs is much more valuable than "winning". Our student-athletes will also excel in the classroom, on the playing field and court, and in the community - and in that order!
Family, recreation, travel, sports, and yes - the weather are all interests of mine, and I can be seen engaging in one or more of these activities in my free-time. I am excited to pursuit these interests in the Miles City area, and look forward to learning new hobbies and interests in my time here.
Finally - we all have a roll as stakeholders of the CCDHS Activities Department. Focusing on our roll, and remembering that we are a unified group of people, will only enhance the experience our students have in their activity of choice, and as a result, WE will be more successful! The strength of the fist is greater than a finger on its own!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or feedback you may have - my door is always open!
GO COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!!
